   Origin  :   Palaearctic

   Habitus  
  The size of the adult parasitoid is about 2 mm. and it has a grey colour, with dark spots on the wings. The antennae have a white extension. Typical is their movement with alternating fast walking with drumming antenna’s and then a sudden short stop.
The parasitised mealybugs can be recognised by the yellow colour with swollen area’s with dark spots, and when the parasites are out several small holes.

   Biology  
  Pseudaphycus can lay several eggs in one mealybug. They prefer older mealybugs.
They can lay about 80 eggs. The maximum age of the female is about 8 weeks.
The developmental time is about 3 weeks. More then 10 Pseudaphycus can come out of one mealybug.

   Use  
  For control of Pseudococcus viburni ( = affinus) mealybugs.. You can use the PMS during the whole year. The minimum temperature must be 16 C°. Concentrate the introduction of the Pseudaphycus on plants with older mealybugs. Depending on the level of infection with mealybugs and the type of plant, you can introduce 20 PMS per plant or 5 PMS /M². Repeat the introduction after 2-3 weeks.
  The use of PMS can be combined with that of : CML,LOS,OMS,NIL
